Google Productsites: How to Get Listed in the New Search Bar Tab

Google launches the new tab "Productsites" – and CSS partners benefit doubly. More visibility, more clicks, no extra budget. Discover how you can rank in the new search feature with Label Up now.

Artistic view of the Google product websites tabs

If you have been paying attention to Google searches lately, you may have already noticed: the new "Productsites" tab in the search results.
With this new tab, Google allows its users to specifically search for products on price comparison sites. This not only provides a simpler search result for potential buyers, but also offers significant potential for online shops and performance agencies. Learn why this is particularly advantageous for Google CSS partners in the following article.

New Feature for Google Search Filter Tabs: Productsites

With the new search filter "Productsites," Google expands the classic search result view with a new category.
The tab displays product pages from price comparison sites, thereby opening new opportunities for CSS partners. Only participants of the Google CSS partner program will appear under the new tab.

Produktwebsites ranken nicht nur im eigenen Tab, sondern oftmals auf der ersten Seite der Suchergebnisse

However, these product pages appear not only in their own tab but also among the organic search results (see graphic). Especially for product-specific search queries, they can already rank on the first page of Google results, in addition to paid shopping ads.

Therefore, anyone who describes their products specifically and meets all requirements will gain new opportunities for visibility with the new feature.

What do I need to do to rank on Google Productsites?

To be displayed in the new search bar tab and the organic search results from Google, the following three requirements must be met:

1.Google CSS Partnership

The most important requirement to rank with a website on Google Productsites is a Google CSS Partnership. Only price comparison sites that are participants in the Google CSS program will be shown.

If you are not a Google CSS partner, you can create your own price comparison site with Label Up, which is guaranteed to be Google CSS compliant and can rank on Google's productsites with any products.

2. Indexed Pages

The product pages must also be indexed, meaning they must be visible in Google search results. Many CSS third-party providers do not meet this requirement and have not indexed their product pages. This completely forfeits the chance of being displayed on Google productsites.

The Label Up setup makes it possible to place your price comparison sites with any shops in the search results and thus be displayed in the productsites tab.

3.SEO Optimization of Product Pages

The ranking of productsites operates like Google's organic search results on the main page. The better the page is optimized and the more relevant it is to the search, the higher it will be displayed.

Currently, the ranking occurs purely organically (with well-optimized product pages), and it is not yet possible to run ads in the productsites widget. However, since Google has already released information about "Comparison Listing Ads," it is only a matter of time before this possibility officially arises.

You can find the information about Comparison Listing Ads at Google's CSS Help. (Source: Google, Comparison Shopping Services Help: https://support.google.com/css-center/answer/9262823?hl=en&ref_topic=9773666&sjid=6709363280291434272-EU (21.10.2025))

With these Comparison Listing Ads, price comparison sites can also run ads in the productsite tab in addition to the shopping ads.

4. At least 100 active product pages

For Google to recognize a comparison shopping site as a relevant productsite, there must be at least 100 active product pages on which multiple retailers are compared per product. These pages are transmitted to Google via the CSS API to be considered for inclusion in the Product Sites tab.

With Label Up, this requirement is met automatically. As soon as your CSS setup is active, the necessary product pages are correctly generated and submitted.

What types of pages can rank on Google Productsites?

Both single product pages, i.e., pages about a single product, and multi-product pages (category pages about several products) can enter the ranking of productsites.

Ein Vergleich zwischen Multi Product Pages und Single Product pages

Category pages especially offer great SEO potential. They can be specifically optimized for relevant keywords and can rank in the top positions of the search results with good technical structure and regularly maintained content.

If you take the price comparison structure of Label Up, you can insert your products into the price comparison system and create category pages with any names and products. Additionally, you can add SEO-optimized texts below the product results to rank optimally. Optimized URL slugs and sitemaps are created automatically.

With Label Up, you therefore have the ideal foundation to create product and category pages in your own name and optimize them so that they are ranked higher and found better by Google.

Can any Google CSS rank there?

No. As mentioned in the requirements, only Google CSS participants with indexed product pages can be displayed. The majority of Google CSS providers have not yet activated their product websites. Merchants who are only listed with such a CSS therefore miss out on the opportunity to appear in the product site tab!

If you are not the CSS provider yourself, you also cannot influence which categories or product pages are displayed and which products are compared there.

However, if you become a CSS partner with Label Up, you fulfill all the requirements and nothing stands in the way of a placement under productsites with your own page.

What does the Google Productsites tab offer for…

…Online Shops?

Well-structured and optimized online shops can particularly leverage potential in the category pages (multi-product pages) of their products. Thanks to the additional organic visibility provided by the product websites feature, there is an extra opportunity to generate more impressions without increasing the budget.

Every impression in the new tab means more reach and qualified traffic without additional advertising costs. This makes product websites a true performance booster for your shop.

💡Brand-Awareness Booster:
If you have your own shop or manage online shops with your agency, it’s time to take advantage of these benefits for yourself. The whitelabel solution from Label Up allows you to adapt the CSS to your brand and boost your brand awareness.

…Agencies and Tool Providers?

Agencies and tool providers can also strategically utilize the new feature for themselves and their clients. As a CSS partner, you benefit double: Firstly through the organic reach in the productsites tab, and secondly through the known CSS advantages within Google Shopping.

In addition to the advantages of product websites, Google CSS partners also benefit through Label Up from:

  • lower click prices

  • a dedicated price comparison site

  • personalized keywords under the shopping ads

  • free clicks on the CSS

  • extended Google support

If you still aren’t a CSS partner, you are not only missing out on the benefits of the new productsites feature, but also several other benefits.

The benefits of the productsites tab at a glance:

  • Additional presence in Google search

  • More reach without additional advertising budget
